But before going to investor portal development, let’s know a little bit about our client.

Why an Investor portal?
Investments are made very carefully as no one wants to waste their money. The way Investment firms work depends on the sector, which they are investing. There are many factors that are taken into consideration even before the investor hears the pitch of the startups/ presenters. Some main points that an investor seek before seeing financial sheets or investment pitch are:
- Sector that company is targeting
- Segment of office
- Previous Investors and Investment amounts
- Target City and previous
- Profile of Co-founders
- Past ROI trends of the sector
The above information is though available on the internet but is distributed all over. Gathering such an important information with authenticated data values takes a lot of time. Moreover, analyzing the data from many portals simultaneously requires much input as compared to generated output. CodeYeti developed an investor portal for Bertelsmann Investments. This investor portal will gather all the information from authenticated sources such as Tracxn and Product Hunt.
The investor portal will help Bertelsmann to analyze companies in a much simpler way. This will not only decrease their operations time and resource requirement but also will help to take quick and better decisions based on the statistical data of the portal.
Segments of the Investor Portal
- Funding Landscape (Funding Analytics)
- Deal Tracker/ Startup Search
- Investor View
- Market News
The dashboard is made for internal news and recent updates. The feeds to this page can be managed by any member who has access to the portal. Following are the feeds that most of the investors or investment firms need to be updated with.
- Curated News
- Twitter Feeds
- Updates from Product Hunt
- Featured Apps reviews
- Recently Funded companies
It is a panel on the dashboard in which the members can add any news from any link to share with other members. The panel takes input as an URL and calls the post from the URL. The called post is shown with a headline and the meta description. Any member who wishes to read the complete post can click on it and he will be redirected to the post without any signup or login option. To neglect redundancy, no same post from a source can be added again.
This panel allows users to be updated with the twitter updates of companies. The twitter feed of various companies can be added by Admin only not by other members. Admin has the right to add or remove company’s twitter feeds. Members can officially request the admin if they want to add another company to the twitter feed.
The most important skill of an investment analyst is to be updated with the new product launches. Most of the companies use many different sources to gather information about such launches. In this investor portal, CodeYeti has embedded API of Product Hunt in order for the Bertelsmann Investments to be updated with new launches in the market. In this panel, the name of most recent launch along with the date of launch and meta description is shown. Linking to each post and its complete detail is also available.
The another key point that is taken into consideration before investing in an App-based company is to check its review and rating on both Android and iOS app stores. To make data available from both the platforms, CodeYeti developed this panel by calling API of 42 matters. CodeYeti made a multi-window in this panel so as to increase User Experience. The Apps listed in this panel are arranged in decreasing order of app’s rating.
Recently Funded Companies
This panel helps members of the portal to be in touch with the investment market. It keeps the users updated about the recent investment. It shows the members the name of company, its description, name of the investors, location, and founding year. The invested companies are shown in chronological order. This panel is made in the form of a slider so as to make User Experience much better. CodeYeti has formed this panel by embedding an API from Tracxn.
This portal provides analytics of fundings in various business models. The data are represented in the form of visual graphs and charts. Also, it can be filtered on the basis of time i.e. 3 months, 6 months, 3 years and 5 years, and of scale i.e. Monthly, Quarterly and Yearly. The graphs are calculated on the basis of the data from tracxn.
The data are basically represented in 3 forms i.e. Macro Overview, Funding Split (by count) and Funding Split (by value).
Macro Overview: In Macro Overview, the investment amounts are shown quarter wise along with the number of investments. Based on this user can see the past trends of the particular business model.
Funding Split (by Count): In this, the user can check the investment counts according to different rounds of investments. User can also cross out various rounds as shown in the image below. On clicking a particular round the user will be redirected towards the tabular data of that round. The tabular data can also be imported into an excel file, if needed. The user can also see the company’s profile having following data points:
- Company Overview
- Funding (rounds & investments)
- App store statistics
- Daily Active Users
- Monthly Visits
Funding Split (by Value): In this user, can check the companies on the basis of the investment amounts they received. The pie chart can be filtered on the basis of investment rounds same as above case. The company profile data points are also same as above.
Deal Tracker in Investor Portal
This portal shows the details of the startups. The user can search about the deals/ investments that has been made in startups. The filters provide a lot many options to the user to refine the information he wants to see. The filters are:
- Company Name

- Business Model
The output of such filters will be a pie chart showing city wise split, statistics in tabular form, and year wise split.
The investor portal also provides the users a feature to search about various investment deals done by investors. The user can search on the basis of a business model, investor name and/or country. The Macro Overview (colored graph) can be sorted yearly i.e. 1 years, 3 years, 5 years and 10 years, and scale i.e. Quarterly and Yearly. The data points are taken from tracxn data source and organized as number of investments and amount of investments as per business model.
The funding count is further shown in the form of a pie chart as per investment rounds and city wise split. The investor portal also provides data of the investor and the amount that he has invested. The data can be downloaded in the form of a CSV file for official purposes.
In market news portal the user can save his personal news subscriptions. Currently, the news that stakeholder asked included VCCircle, Inc42, Medianama, LiveMint, and Economic Times in National News Category and Techcrunch, TheInformation, Tech in Asia, The Next Web, and VentureBeat in International News Category. These news will keep the user updated about the market that he is interested in.
So these were the major front-end features that Codeyeti has developed in the Investor Portal. We still have many innovative ideas that can be developed in such portals as per client’s requirements.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
