So what’s the trend this week I hear you ask? Well you can just Go ‘PokémonGO’, this beloved childhood game from the 90’s has made a return and it’s not just children that are loving it, its adults too. People well into their 20’s and above are besotted with this new App; developed based on the Nintendo game and children’s Tv program “Pokémon”. This new game actually manages to get you out of the house, as you have to Walk around your area to gain characters as it uses google maps to combine real life within its virtual world, where it uses local landmarks as “Pokémon shops” so you have to walk to these landmarks to go to the shop on your game, sounds like far too much exercise for a game to me.
Could this new game be leading you to a bank breaking Bill or even your death? With around 21 million daily users in the States, the game is growing fast to say it only got release in early June this year. People spend around 33 minutes and 25 seconds a day on this new game, meaning it has over taken Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter and Instagram. It’s clear to see that this new game is the latest craze.
When the first came out there was a major flaw within the IOS version of the game as it was Fixed on Apple devices to allow the game to gain full access the user account details. However, the developer of Niantic rushed to fix this issue. That’s just one issue that can be fixed though, because the game relies on the uses of data and GPS signal you can see what the problem is going to be here with it being a “outdoor” based game, you’re kind of asking for a £100 + Phone Bill if you use this game outside.
That’s not the only scary thing about this App, Niantic the developers of the game have the right to share certain information with third parties, they share this information for research, and analysis, demographic and profiling and other.
So what do you do? Do you delete this very addictive game, or do you just be more aware? Well I will leave that decision up to you. But don’t say I didn’t warn you when your next Phone bill comes through the post.
