Bill Gates Goes To LinkedIn To Share His Resume From When He Was 18 Years Old

04/07/2022

Everything in this world has to start somewhere. And so does Bill Gates, before he became one of the richest men in the world.

Before co-founding Microsoft, before becoming the tech world's first-ever centibillionaire, Gates was just like most people. When he was 18 years old, he needed to work.

Fast forward, the tech mogul has become one of the world's most generous philanthropists. And here, Gates went to LinkedIn to share a photo of the Resume.

"Whether you’re a recent grad or a college dropout, I’m sure your resume looks a lot better than mine did 48 years ago," he said.

The resume dates back to when he was in his first year at Harvard.

In his resume, the billionaire has mentioned his expertise in including operating systems structure, database management, computer graphics, and compiler construction.

He further mentions "Honors Student and received A’s in all of the above."

In the modern days of the web and technology, there are lots of websites and online consultants who could help job applicants to build a good resume.

Gates' resume appears to have been typed up on a typewriter, as would have been the norm for practically everyone in the 1970s, before Gates and others helped spread the use of personal computers.

At that time, Bill Gates was known as William Henry Gates III.

Although Gates has mentioned that other people’s resume looks better than his ancient resume, netizens thought otherwise.

Someone even called it a "piece of archaeology."

"Thank you for the example! Bill Gates great example of the essence of a CV and what it stands for - unveil what is behind the words. The depths of the words are what matters," another person said.

"Thank you for sharing Bill Gates. Great one-page resume. We should all keep copies of our past resumes to go back and have a look. Sometimes, we forget how much we have accomplished in our lives," another LinkedIn user responded.

"That's a hugely impressive CV for a young person 48 years ago...undervalued. The structure of the CV is good. I wonder what printer and software were used for it, not Word! ... probably a typewriter!" yet another user complimented.

Users did not fail to praise Gates, as he already showed a lot of credibility and potential since a very young age.

Gates showed that his yearly salary was $12,000, which wasn't bad at the time at all.

Gates who mentioned that he was studying at Harvard should make him an attractive candidate for head hunters at the time, not to mention the long list of projects he had done, as well as his skills and experiences.

But interestingly, Gates said that he was open to receiving different amounts of money.

While the resume is just a piece of Gates past, the world now know that years later, that "open" statement would turn into millions of dollars.

As a billionaire philanthropist, Bill Gates is one of the world's most respected business leaders in the world. And whenever he gives advice, it is sure to be treasured.

If working is all about the money, Gates has earned more money than most people, and their children, and their children's children, could earn in their entire lifetime.

So his resume here, is indeed something to be inspired. It's also to show that Gates, was once like everyone else who needed a job.
