Previously, Google's search engine has allowed people to find flights and hotel fares. This time, it’s going a step further with an update that allows people to book travel and accommodation directly from the search results.
What this means, users won't have to visit separate travel websites. They can just use Google to quickly book rooms and flight tickets. To do this, users just need to head to Google's flight search option to look for hotels of their destination. Complete with pictures and maps, users can search for accommodation by location and price.
Or, they can start their search with hotels or destination, instead of flights.
All the information will be listed in separate tabs.
This update is meant to take away people's attention from travel booking and review websites.
While dedicated travel websites may have more feature and options, but with Google Search showing some shortcuts to the most-wanted features in travelling, Google is allowing users to make their decision quick and easy.
And if users also use Google's Trip app, they can bring all of their travel details and plans to the app too. Trip can show all reservations in one place.
The update comes just a week after Google began using AI to predict flight delays before airlines can.
With the feature, Google can show more information about flights, including why departure time was held back, and even predicting if a delay may happen before traveler hear anything from their airline.
To do this, users just need to search for their flight number or route and airline to get the necessary information.
Google uses historic flight data, and feed that information to its machine learning to predict delays. Google will only alert users if it sees more than 80 percent confident in its guesses.
