A luxurious Pool setting is more than just the pool itself. There are a lot of elements that go into making a pool exquisite, and every element must complement the overall appearance and feel of the pool setting. It requires relentless attention to detail and a close working relationship with the homeowners during the design phase.
Complimentary Pool Setting
The surrounding environment – the available space and landscaping; the architecture of the home; and the location – views, type of area (tropical, inland flatland, coastal, etc.) all must create a cohesive design, working together without anyone element distracting from the others.
Though simple and sleek in design, these luxury pools complement the surrounding area very effectively.
An exquisite pool setting generates excitement each time the homeowner sees it. It should give a feeling of peace and tranquility, relaxation from the stresses of the day, and should add beauty to your home and to your life.
There are several trending elements that can add to that feeling of luxury to any new pool construction. Let’s take a look at a few.
Swimming pools can be constructed in just about any shape you desire.
Each of these pool settings makes use of different pool shapes. Each is exquisite in their designs and complement their surroundings.
The paving surrounding the pool can either add to a luxurious pool design or make it a typical residential pool setting
Though both of these decking materials are made of brick, the one at left looks like a typical residential pool; while the one at right has the beginnings of a luxurious pool setting.
Like the above photos, the decking uses similar materials; however, the left paving material is a muted stone color, while the one at right has vibrant changes of color with a dark stone edge surrounding the pool, in contrast, adding a more exquisite feel.
Both of these pools have great design shapes, but the decking material of the one at left leaves the design looking flat. With the one at right, the pool shape and paving work together for a more luxurious effect.
Lastly, the decking material must be able to extend past the pool and make the pool part of an overall setting, complementing the surrounding area.
Pool Interior Design
Two types of interior pool design are usable structures and tile designs.
The shape of a pool is a structural design, but you also can have structural elements within the pool itself. Good examples are the pool steps, benches, or even sunken bar or kitchen.
At left are stylized steps. At right is a sunken bar – great when you entertain a lot.
We’re seeing more intricate tile designs for the bottom of the pools, but not typically in a luxury pool, where no one element of the pool setting detracts from the other elements.
The design at left is not only extremely busy but would detract from the rest of the pool setting, as well as make seeing a drowning child very difficult. The design at right is simpler and a drowning child could be easily seen
These interior pool designs add the elegance desirable in a luxury pool, and a drowning child can easily be seen.
Large tile motifs around the sides of the pool, above the waterline, add a special elegance and is an option to mosaic tile designs.
Lighting in and around a pool can make or break the evening ambiance of a pool setting.
The lighting at left gives no ambiance to the pool and leaves much to be desired as well for the home. At right, the lighting emphasizes the structure, as well as reflecting in the pool, giving the pool setting an evening ambiance.
Even better is to add spotlights inside the pool, especially when the pool design is exceptional.
These are tiles that can be used in the pool’s interior design to light the pool in the evening. They give off the light at night, recharging by using the sunlight or normal electrical light, which means they are useful for indoor pools, as well. You can use only a few to highlight specific elements of the pool, such as steps and edges, or the entire sides of a pool can be illuminated in the evening.
