Why You Should Treat Your Freelancers Like Your Employees

If you’re like many business owners, you may have come to rely increasingly on Freelancers to take up any slack in your organization.  Often, it’s more cost effective to bring a freelancer on to help you handle a temporary crunch than it is to go through the time and labor-intensive hiring process to bring on a new full time employee you may need to let go later on.

If you have one or more freelancers on your team this holiday season, make sure they’re included in whatever virtual holiday festivities you may have planned.  True, they might not be permanent employees, but their contributions matter too, and it’s just good form to make sure they’re included.

That’s actually a lot easier than you might think.  Over whatever span of time they’ve been working for you, you’ve almost certainly gotten to know a few things about them, so you probably already have at least some sense of their tastes and preferences, and even if you don’t that’s an easy thing to find out.

Freelancers often feel less a part of your organization than your other employees and if you’re looking for a simple, surefire way to boost their morale and productivity, then including them in this year’s holiday celebration is an excellent way to do just that.  For a nominal investment in a little gift basket or other small token, you’ll see an outsized boost in the work they deliver for you.  That’s win-win.
