Benefits of Reiki During Pregnancy

Benefits Of Reiki During Pregnancy

Reiki is one of the most popular Energy healing systems in the world. Founded in Japan in the early 20th century by Dr. Mikao Usui. He created a hands-on healing system that can be learned by absolutely anyone. The technique is unique and it’s not based on any other method or tradition, is simple to learn and everyone who has been attuned to it can use it.

What is Reiki?

Reiki loosely translates as ‘universal life force energy’ or ‘energy of love’. The Practitioner is a channel of this energy commonly known as prana or qi. Good health depends on of the quality of the life force that is flowing through our bodies. Chi is the primary energy of our emotions, thoughts, and wellbeing. If a person’s life force is low, or there is a restriction in the flow, they are more vulnerable to illness.

During a treatment, the Practitioner connects with the person who receives the Reiki, on a deeper level. Very often the practitioner can sense the Client’s aura and feel the chakra blockages. He uses specially designed symbols that can translate as intentions, to balance the recipient’s whole energetic field.

How Does Reiki Work?

During the session, the client stay’s fully clothed and the practitioner put his hands on or above the client’s body in a special way. He also uses reiki symbols to remove any negative energies, traumas, and blockages from the recipient’s auric field. Reiki works on all four levels: physical, emotional, spiritual and mental. During a session, the practitioner channels the energy, referred as energy of oneness and wave of love, from the universe to the recipient. Reiki uses are endless. It works on people, animals, plants and life circumstances.

Reiki Treatments During Pregnancy

Mothers-to-be have a lot to cope with during the pregnancy, including all the body changes that take place, such as morning sickness excessive tiredness, indigestion, and backache, all of which can cause a lot of discomforts. These can be alleviated with the use of Reiki.
Reiki can also support women emotionally in these times of upheaval.

Giving Reiki treatment is also a way for fathers-to-be to become more involved with the pregnancy, and to help them bond with the unborn child in a different way. This may also help the father overcome some of the emotional challenges he faces in months before the birth.

Throughout the pregnancy, the mother can give a self-treatment every day. Reiki can be used to maintain calm and relaxed at all times. If the mother is not practicing Reiki herself, then receiving treatments regularly (after the first trimester) from a practitioner will be beneficial. She should ask the practitioner to focus on any areas of particular discomfort.

What To Expect During A Reiki Session?

Practitioners normally feel a physical sensation in their hands and recipients often experience a strong sensation of warmth or energy movement. It’s not uncommon that the Clients while having their eyes closed, see changing colours or images. Reiki treatment is very relaxing and calming and it’s not uncommon that the Client is falling asleep during the session.

Benefits Of Reiki

Many health organisations now acknowledge the benefits of Reiki. Treatment is offered in many hospitals in UK and US, and now in Ireland as well.

Doctor’s at the Charité, Berlin’s University Hospital, concluded a few years ago that complementary therapies could speed up healing time, reduce the need for painkillers and generally improve the wellbeing of patients. Unsure which therapy to go for, the doctors trialed a number of them and analysed patient feedback. With 85% patients reporting a reduction in pain, Reiki scored the highest by far.

Reiki is safe to treat: stress related disorders, conditions related to sinus, menopause, migraine, asthma, chronic fatigue, back pain, insomnia, and depression – to name a few. It speeds up recovery from surgery as it tends to reduce the side-effects. Reiki gently cleanses the body of built up toxins, relieves pain and helps release emotional trauma.

Disclaimer: Energy therapy is a natural method of energy balancing, but is not meant as a substitute for medical, or psychological, diagnosis and treatment. Energy practitioners do not diagnose conditions, nor do they perform medical treatment, prescribe substances, or interfere with the treatment of a licensed medical professional. Energy therapy or any other natural healing therapy should not compete with medical doctors and their treatments. All therapies are meant to complement medical treatments.
