Maharashtra: Ajit Pawar is Deputy CM, Aaditya Thackeray takes oath as minister

New Delhi: The first cabinet expansion of Uddhav Thackeray-led Mahavikas Aghadi Government in Maharashtra took place today.

Nationalist Congress Party’s Ajit Pawar took oath as Deputy Chief Minister on this occasion.

Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly inducted 36 Ministers in presence of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and NCP Chief Sharad Pawar at the ceremony held in the State Legislature premises.

Shiv Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray became the first member of the family to take oath as a Minister in the State Cabinet. Along with Aaditya, NCP leaders Nawab Malik, Dilip Walse-Patil Dhananjay Munde, Jitendra Ahwad, Hasan Mashrif, Anil Deshmukh, Dr Rajendra Shingne, Rajesh Tope and Hasan Mushrif were sworn in as Cabinet Ministers.

Senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister Ashok Chavan and party MLAs Amit Deshmukh, Yashomati Thakur, Vijay Vadettiwar and Varsha Gaikwad were among the prominent leaders who took oath as Ministers at this juncture.

Shiv Sena Spokesman Anil Parab was also given a place in the Cabinet along with Uday Samant, Dada Bhuse and Sandipan Bhumre.

Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) Government led by Uddhav Thackeray was formed on 28th of November.

Congress leaders Balasaheb Thorat and Nitin Raut along with Shivsena leaders Eknath Shinde and Subhash Desai and NCP’s Jayant Patil and Chhagan Bhujbal also took oath on that day.
