New Delhi: ‘Nothing is impossible’ as India’s Fouaad Mirza proved it by made history on Sunday, as he became the first Indian to win an individual Silver Medal in the equestrian event. Fouaad won India’s first individual medal in equestrian event in 36 years at the Asian Games.
He topped the dressage and cross-country qualifiers with a score of 22.40, he went into the jumping finals as a favourite, where he scored 26.40 to bag the silver medal position in the three-day competition.
India had previously won 10 medals in the sport, including three golds.
It was in 1982 that the last individual in Eventing came when Raghubir Singh topped the table in New Delhi.
During this year, all three of the podium positions were awarded to Indians – Ghulam Mohammed Khan won silver while Prahlad Singh won bronze – in the event.
