Slovenia is moving fast in the direction of mass adoption of the crypto currency. Recently, local media outlets announced the introduction of payment in the main shopping center of the capital with the help of crypto-currencies.
BTC City Ljubljana, located in the city of Ljubljana, launches a pilot project for payment for goods for crypto-currencies. Thus, 150 buyers of the center will be able to pay for purchases in digital currencies in more than 500 stores. Products that can be bought, start with the category of clothing and end with electronics, said the local TV channel “24 Ur”.
Interestingly, bitcoin (BTC) has nothing to do with the name of one of the largest Shopping complexes in Europe. The center was founded in 1950 and is named Blagovno Transportni Center or abbreviated as BTC.
Slovenia on the way to the creation of “Bitcoin City”
As previously reported in the media, Slovenia was noted as a crypto-currency friendly country. By the beginning of the first quarter of 2018, the shopping center had teamed up with Eligma, a startup company that conducts transactions based on crypto-currencies through the Elipay application.
With more than 500 stores, BTC City Ljubljana intends to become the world’s largest center for making digital assets as payments. Slovenia continues to invest in its future, wishing to create “Bitcoin City” as soon as possible. The project received praise from the Ministry of Peace of Cherara and State Secretary Tadeus Slapnik, who in recent days visited Ljubljana.
