Chrome will alert you when you make a mistake when writing the URL of a site

Chrome will alert you when you make a mistake when writing the URL of a site and you are about to enter the wrong place

One of the terrible dangers of falling into the hands of a cybercriminal is a silly Mistake that we all make when we erroneously type the URL of a website in the browser’s address bar.

Soon Google will solve this problem by alerting the user when Writing a similar URL and forwarding them to the site they are truly trying to visit.

This feature is already tested since the version 70 of Chrome Canary and now has just been activated as experimental in the current stable version of Chrome 71.

The big problem with this is that several buy names of domains similar to the domain names of important sites, many times to gain traffic placing links with publicity, but other times they are cybercriminals that do this that also design the site as if it were the Real site to trick visitors and thus try to get authentication credentials to the real site or just install malware in the unsuspecting user’s system, to name two of the most common attacks.

If you want to have this feature already, you can do it by activating it in the following way:

  1. In a new tab, enter the following URL: chrome: // flags / # enable-lookalike-url-navigation-suggestions
  2. Once inside the experiment page, you will first see the Navigation suggestions for Lookalike URLs feature  (Navigation Tips for Similar URLs)
  3. Activate the feature and you’re done

It is a great help and greatly improves the security of our navigation.
