In this year at the Los Angeles Auto Show, which will be called Automobility LA for the first time  , the Volvo Cars carmaker will not carry any vehicle for the first time.

Times change and companies start to change too, that’s why at Automobility LA Volvo Cars will simply explain their vision of the future, which redefines what can be a vehicle.

We all know that the center of the Auto Showrooms around the world always the main attraction center was the car, some on fixed platforms, others on rotating platforms and also some covered by a blanket until the time of the presentation.

The above is something of the past, now the vehicles, the sector and the expectations of the users are changing at a firm pace and Volvo will reflect these changes at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

On the consumer side, today the way in which they experience a car brand is more important than the power of the engine, the leather of the seats or other parts of the vehicle.

When the Automobility LA attendees arrive at the Volvo Cars stand, they will see a simple message that says “This is not a car”.

But that message will not be the only thing they will present, it will also offer interactive demonstrations that have to do with connectivity services, their autonomous driving vision and the Care by Volvo vehicle subscription service.

In recent times Volvo Cars has made several strategic alliances with leading technology companies such as Amazon, Google and Nvidia and with emerging technology companies such as Luminar and Zenuity.

Regarding this issue, the person in charge of the product strategy of Volvo Cars, Mårten Levenstam, points out the following,

By choosing the name Automobility LA for the Show, the organizers recognize the disruption that our sector is experiencing. We want to show that we are aware of the situation and start a dialogue about the future of mobility. So, instead of bringing a concept car (prototype) we talked about the concept of the car. We will not win the “salon vehicle” award this year, but we do not care. Because this is not a motor show.
