This is the reason why Twitter wants to eliminate the ‘likes’ in their tweets

Twitter has announced that it is proposing to eliminate the ‘like’ button that can be clicked on each of the published tweets. The elimination of this tool will make it one of the few Social networks that do not have this option. We explain your reason.

Twitter has announced that it is thinking of eliminating the ‘likes’ or hearts of the tweets in order to achieve a better quality of the debates in the social network.

According to the founder of this social network Jack Dorsey this function that was established in 2015, replacing the old star-shaped favorites button with which people could tweet to read them later, is not to their liking because it does not help to achieve better discussions among users.

The fashion of the ‘likes’ was given by the giant of Facebook, which later all social networks copied due to its great success. Numerous psychologists have already warned of the danger of addiction that this simple tool implies, especially among young people who need the constant approval of their peers.

In March of this same year Twitter already implanted markers with which tweets can be saved. Thus, a spokesman for Twitter has said that other new changes are coming for the social network:

“We are experimenting and considering numerous possible changes, all with a view to ensuring that we are encouraging the right behaviors to drive a healthy conversation ,  the spokesperson explained.

This social network hides many false profiles and accounts , which are known as “trolls” of Twitter, which use these accounts to harass famous people.

That’s why Dorsey says that this change can benefit the social network and make it more healthy, and as he said, “repress the wrong information ,  .

Dorsey has explained that it is possible to implement an option to edit tweets and change the verification process in which a blue mark is not an exclusive domain of celebrities, as well as changing the way in which the followers of each user are counted.

Ultimately, it is possible that the ‘likes’ on Twitter have the days counted and will have to see if this elimination serves to achieve a healthier social network, as well as more respectful debates and encourage healthy participation among all users.
