Apple has to find a way to spend all their money in cash – around 250 billion dollars – and analysts at JP Morgan have revealed some of their suggestions today.
The main recommendation of the analyst Samik Chatterjee is Netflix . It is the best bet that the Cupertino company has to position itself in the streaming video market , since starting from scratch could be very complicated given that the competition already has years of travel.
Thus, Chatterjee considers that Netflix is the most successful player in this field, and it is difficult to achieve similar results with a smaller company.
” We believe that Apple can drive synergies between its leading position in smartphones and the rapid transition from video to mobile consumption to drive increased service growth, ” Chatterjee explained, according to CNBC .
However, although it would be the best bet, JP Morgan admits that the Apple-Netflix combination is also one of the least likely . Buying Netflix would be very expensive and difficult. Its price could be around 189 billion dollars and, while Apple does have that amount, the acquisition could generate some imbalance. Of course, within the streaming content market it would be easier to acquire Netflix than Hulu or Amazon Prime.
But JP Morgan not only mentioned Netflix. Two other companies interested in buying from Apple are Activision Blizzard and Sonos , the first being a videogame company and the second one a smart speaker. Along with entertainment, are the three industries of greatest strategic value to Apple currently .
None of the companies mentioned, including Apple, have commented on it, so for now they are purely hypotheses raised by JP Morgan.
