Today, one of the creators of MEW Taylor Monahan reported that the popular crypto-cash purse for the Tokens network Ethereum MyEtherWallet received a new name Mycrypto. It is known that only part of the team has passed into the new project, and the other part continues its work.
In her publication on the stages of the company’s formation, Monakhan spoke in detail about the enthusiasm with which they, together with their partner Kvhnuke started to work, how much effort and time they took away from the work process. At first they did not expect MEW to become such an important part of the Ethereum infrastructure, but the first successes forced them to grow, develop the product and improve the code.
According to her, from a small project MEW has turned into a huge company, and the current rebranding in MyCrypto is a logical step for further scaling of the business, ensuring future success and contributing to product improvement.
However, the message did not say why the team can not continue working under the former name. Meanwhile, it seems that part of MEW, owned by Kvhnuke, which also owns Github, still works. There are no failures either in the purse itself or on MyEtherWallet.com, although the account on Twitter has already changed its name to MyCrypto.
These omissions have caused various rumors and fears of users, because MyEtherWallet is used by millions of people around the world. The second founder of MEW Kvhnuke did not make any official announcement about rebranding.
On this occasion, Joseph Young published a tweet in which he wrote that the change in the name of the account on Twitter from MyEtherWallet to MyCrypto had to be announced in advance. Renaming is quite an amateurish way for rebranding. At the same time, he added that he is a fan of MEW and constantly uses the company’s services.
MyEtherWallet's abrupt change in branding to MyCrypto should have been announced using MyEtherWallet's social media accounts first. This is a very amateurish way of handling it. This is coming from an everyday user of MEW and its biggest fan.
