High Pressure Homogenizer by GOMA Engineering

What is a homogenizer?

A Homogenizer is an industrial equipment used for the Homogenization process of various types of materials which include tissue, plant, food, soil, etc. The most common form of this equipment is mortar and pestle, which has been used for hundreds of years. The modern versions of this equipment are based on blender kind of instruments.

Let’s get into technicalities

A high-pressure piston pump, Homogenizer is used to break bigger particles with size upto 1 micron into fine particles with the help of the homogenizing devices. Homogenization has been a good old industrial practice to produce a different product in dairy & food industries.

What happens in the process?

In homogenization process, breaking the fat particle below 1 µ is done by passing through a narrow slit which is slightly larger than the diameter of globules. Velocity in the narrow slit is up to 250 m/s. Because of narrow slit & high velocity, a high shear stress & micro turbulence is created and as a result globules start breaking.

What are the stages in homogenization?

Homogenization is a two stage process. The first 1st stage includes breaking down the particles & the 2nd stage is to prevent clustering. The pressure used during the process of Homogenization, depends on the product characteristics of fat content, viscosity, total solid etc. Normally dairy industry uses homogenization pressure up to 200 bar (3000 PSI).
Before homogenization, milk must be heated to a minimum temperature of 70°C, to inactivate lipase enzyme, to check rancidity & to get maximum homogenization efficiency because of melted fat.
Homogenization process for fruit juices can be conducted at an ambient temperature, due to the absence of fat globules. Similarly, that of vegetable fat/Palm oil can be taken just above the melting point.

We, at Goma Engineering, Thane are world leaders in the manufacturing of high pressure Homogenizer for different applications like milk, flavoured milk, condensed milk, milk shake, chocolate milk, coconut milk, almond milk, soya milk, Cream, coffee cream, Non-dairy whipping cream, coconut cream, Ice cream mix, yoghurt, butter milk, Lassi, Laban, processed cheese, cream cheese, liquid egg, chocolate sauce, tomato sauce, tomato ketchup, flavour emulsion, AKD emulsion, fruit pulp including mango, guava, banana, and so on.
We are blessed with state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities with the certification like CE & 3A. We offer a wide range of homogenizers, from 10 LPH to 20,000 LPH, with pressure running up to 1500 depending upon the need and application of our client.
We have a separate Research & Development centre to develop the new generation, energy efficient & highly efficient homogenizer. Our R & D centre is recognised & supported by the Government of India.
