Travelers from China Now Need a COVID-19 Negative Report Before Flying to Pearson

All the travelers from countries like China, Hong Kong, and Macao will now require a negative COVID-19 report before boarding the flight to Pearson Airport in Mississauga.

In a news release published on Saturday, Federal government said that the travelers with ages above 2 years old, from the three countries will require a negative covid report and the temporary mandate will begin from Jan 5, 12:01 a.m., EST.

As per the government, this is being done, “in response to the surge of COVID-19 in the People’s Republic of China and given the limited epidemiological and viral genomic sequence data available on these cases.”

The test can either be molecular like PCR test, or an antigen test from a telehealth service or an accredited laboratory or test provider.

Regardless of the vaccination status, this measure will apply to all the travellers and will be in place for a month from now.

As per federal government, “passengers who tested positive more than 10 days before their flight leaves, but not more than 90 days, can provide the airline with proof of their positive test instead.”
