A middle-aged man and woman were found dead in Montreal’s Pointe-aux-Trembles, in what the Montreal Police are suspecting is a murder-suicide.

According to the  Montreal police (SPVM), police officers were called to an apartment building on 25th Avenue near the intersection with Notre Dame Street East. Upon reaching the location, the police found the bodies of a man and a woman, both about 45 years old, in a fire escape stairway.  While the woman’s body “bore signs of violence” the man’s body suggested “that the man took his own life”, according to SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils.

Major crime investigators are going door to door to speak with potential witnesses, Chèvrefils added.

While the police said that the woman lived in the building itself, the relationship between the man and the woman is yet to be ascertained.
