Historic Winter Storm Knocks Out Power For 1.5 Million In The US And Canada

Due to the powerful and gusty winds, about 1.5 million people are now without power in the US and Canada. The winter weather alerts are stretching from coast-to-coast and far south to the US-Mexico border.

With it, the storm is bringing freezing temperatures, and damaging winds that can lead to a frostbite.

In the US, at least six storm-related deaths have so far been reported. In Canada, more than 3,17,900 people from the provinces of Quebec and Ontario have been affected with power outages. On the other hand, more than 1,400,000 people in the US have had no electricity due to damaged power lines.

As per the forecaster, the storm is set to bring the iciest Christmas in decades.

Most of Canada is under an extreme cold and winter warnings and several publicly funded school in Toronto and the GTA have been shut down.
