West Bengal Man Travels 65 KM for Operation with Trident in His Neck

A West Bengal man was rushed to a hospital 65 km away, all the while having a trident pierced through his neck. Photos of the man who seems oddly calm are doing rounds on social media. The doctors also stated that the man did not report any pain and was unbelievably calm before the operation.

Bhaskar Ram, a resident of Kalyani, West Bengal, traveled 65 km to Kolkata’s Nilratan Sarkar Medical College (NRS) with a trident through his neck. The 150-year-old trident was kept on the altar in Ram’s house and his family had been worshipping it for generations. It is unclear how the accident happened but Ram was brought to NRS in a bloodied state on November 28.

Photos of Ram have gone viral on social media showing a trident that entered the right side of his neck and exited from the left. He was oddly calm during the journey to the hospital and even the medical personnel were surprised to see him so relaxed. Ram’s sister, on the other hand, fainted after she saw the trident going through his neck.

The doctors found that the trident did not damage any organs, veins, or arteries and there was no major internal damage. After a complex surgical procedure, Dr. Pranabasis Bandyopadhyay and his team were able to remove the trident. They also stated that Ram did not complain of any pain from the trident sticking in his neck and was unbelievably calm before the surgery. Ram is expected to make a full recovery and is recuperating well.
