Youth Akali Dal held Dharna, burned effigies of Sukhpal Khaira

Chandigarh November 18, 2017: Youth Akali Dal (YAD) today escalated its campaign for immediate arrest of the leader of the opposition, Sukhpal Singh Khaira by holding a dharna simultaneously in all district headquarters across the state for abetting heroin and arms smuggling, for which he has been accused by a Fazlika court.

YAD activists burned effigies of Sukhpal Khaira during a dharna simultaneously held at Mohali, Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala, Sangrur, Barnala, Ludhiana, Ropar, Moga, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar. They asked AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal to tell Punjabis why he sided with someone who supported a drug accused. YAD activists also demanded that the Congress government should file a supplementary challan in the case and arrest Sukhpal Khaira immediately.

Exposing the double standard of AAP leadership on the issue of drugs, the youth wing of SAD pointed out that AAP had been making a lot of hue and cry by claiming its zero tolerance towards the menace of drugs during the assembly elections just to gain political mileage.  Now it maintains a studious silence when its own leader, who is unfortunately also a leader of opposition in the Vidhan Sabha, has been indicted in a drug smuggling case and summoned by a district court.
