Judge Orders Tori Spelling to Pay $38K American Express Bill

Summary: Tori Spelling was ordered to pay her $38,000 credit card bill.

Credit cards spell trouble if you don’t have any dough! That’s the lesson that Tori Spelling has learned. According to TMZ, the actress was sued by American Express for not paying her massive credit card debt, and this week, she was ordered to pony up the cash.

Tori is the daughter of massively successful television producer Aaron Spelling, who passed away in 2006. He was the one who got her cast in his 1990s hit, 90210. While her father may have provided for her fame and Hollywood lifestyle while he was alive, he left her only $800,000 in his will. The majority of his estate was left to his wife and Tori’s mother, Candy.

Tori has been open about her troubles. In a 2013 interview with The Talk, she explained how she wasn’t too good to not make stupid financial decisions.

“I was simply showing that I have made some bad choices financially,” Tori said. “It happens! We’re not above anyone else, we make bad choices and financially we get ourselves into holes.”

One of those “bad choices” was the accumulation of $37,982 dollars on her American Express card. The courts ordered Tori to pay her debt along with $855 in court fees.

The credit card company sued in January after Tori had allegedly stopped making monthly payments. AmEx said that they hadn’t received any money from her since June 2015, and that one $1,000 payment had bounced. Because of this, the judge in the case issued a default judgment.

Besides more credit card debt than some people earn at a job in one year, Tori and her husband Dean McDermott also have a six-figure lien from not paying taxes in 2014. Us Weekly reports that Candy had agreed to help her daughter with some of her expenses like housing, food, and her children’s school; but sweet Candy has drawn the line at Tori’s extras.

Do you think Candy should help her daughter Tori with the credit card judgment? Let us know in the comments below.
