“Flip or Flop” Star Allegedly Targeted by Skin Care Scam

Summary: Christina El Moussa denies founding skincare line, Vinetics-C.

A website claims “Flip or Flop” Star Christina El Moussa helped “create” a new skincare line, but the reality star says she had nothing to do the products.

According to AOL, the website went so far as to doctor itself to look like an article from PEOPLE. The allegedly phony post stated that Christina El Moussa was the mastermind behind Vinetics-C, a skincare line that the website claims accounted for almost half of her and her estranged husband’s income.

Christina El Moussa’s troubled marriage with fellow “Flip or Flop” star Tarak El Moussa recently made headlines, and the website capitalized on that gossip by adding a fake quote that said she created Vinetics-C’s anti-wrinkle serum in order to financially support herself without needing her husband.

“Tarek and I were having problems long before we broke up,” the website claimed El Moussa wrote. “I knew that my livelihood would be threatened if I didn’t take action, so I worked with a talented team to create Vinetics-C Anti-Wrinkle Serum to take care of my family without having to depend on staying together with Tarek.”

Christina El Moussa released a statement through a spokeswoman, saying that everything about the website was “bogus.”

“This is absolutely NOT true, and it is a bogus website. This is not from People’s website, and is clearly a scam with a made-up website address to give the false impression that Christina endorses this product or has made these false claims,” El Moussa’s spokesperson said. “This is clearly an example of someone trying to take advantage of the current difficult situation she is going through in the public eye.”

HGTV’s “Flip or Flop” centers around Christina and Tarak El Moussa, real estate agents who buy and renovate homes. The couple had been married for seven years, but six months ago, reports stated that there was trouble in their household after the police were called to the reality stars’ home because of a “suicidal man” waving a gun.

The couple acknowledged that Tarak did have a gun while outdoors, but that the entire incident was a “misunderstanding.” Tarak said he left his Orange County, California home so that he could have time to think and that he had brought a gun in order to protect himself from wild animals.
