Beginning Thursday, Jan. 7, the Tigard Library will re-open on Thursdays from
10 a.m.-9 p.m. It has been closed on Thursdays since 2012 because of city budget cutbacks. When the Washington County Cooperative Library Services (WCCLS) levy passed in November, the Tigard City Council approved funding so that the library will be open seven days a week.
Another re-opening will also occur at the library in January. The coffee shop in the lobby, which has been closed since April, will re-open under new management in late January. The Literary Feast Café, owned by Tigard resident Joslyn Webster, will offer organic gourmet sandwiches, soups, salads, smoothies and pastries. The Literary Feast will also feature coffees and teas from Portland-area companies.
Webster and her family are avid readers and library users. Each item on the menu will be named after a book.
I also want to make sure that everyone has heard the good news that Tigard Public Library will re-open on Thursdays starting January 7, and we will be open until 9:00 pm. Here are our new hours, effective next week:
10 AM–9 PM
10 AM–6 PM
12 PM–6 PM
Happy New Year to you all – 2016 is looking brighter already!
