While it used to require the download of a completely separate app, Apple has made it very easy to take photos while Recording video, and the feature continues to improve. The feature first shipped with the iPhone 5,  but with the latest iOS and iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus, both the quality of the photos and videos have improved, thanks to the iPhone’s improved camera.
