Easy Snickerdoodle Cookie Recipe

Snickerdoodle Recipe

Hi Everyone!  Welcome to Musings of a Homemaker.  This is part of the 12 Days of Christmas Recipes and Ideas.  Each day for the next 12 days you will get to enjoy some wonderful recipes and ideas. 

This is probably our son’s favorite cookie.  He loves it when I make these.  This is a great cookie to make during the holiday season because it is a neutral cookie taste along with it makes the house smell festive.

Easy Snickerdoodle Recipe 

  • 1/2 cup BUTTER softened
  • 1 cup plus 2 tbsp SUGAR,
  • 1 EGG
  • 1/2 tsp VANILLA EXTRACT
  • 1 1/2 cups of ALL PURPOSE FLOUR
  • 1/4 tsp  BAKING SODA
  • 1/4 tsp CREAM OF TARTAR
  • 1 tsp GROUND CINNAMON

DIRECTIONS:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Cream 1 cup of the sugar and the butter in a large bowl until it is fluffy and light. Beat in the vanilla and the egg.

In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cream of tartar and baking soda.

Slowly add the dry mixture to the original mixture. Blend well.

Combine remaining sugar and cinnamon.

Shape the dough into 1 1/2 inch balls, and then roll the balls in the mixture of cinnamon and sugar.

Place the cookies onto ungreased baking sheets two inches apart. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes.  Cool on wire racks.  Place in sealed containers to keep fresh.

I am sure you will enjoy making these cookies and sharing them this Christmas season.  You might have to make two batches.  One to give and one to keep.
