Well, I was planning on blogging this yesterday but, still been feeling deathly ill, which makes for a very unmotivied blogger. I did make my first ever Sourdough loaf this weekend!
I think I mentioned in a previous post that Ruth had requested that I made sourdough bread. I know I told you all that I did a starter, which took about 6 days in the cold Canadian weather. If you live somewhere warmer it would be a lot faster. I have now made this Sourdough Loaf and last night I also made sourdough dinner rolls! They were a success and from what I read you can add the sourdough starter to pretty much any bread and it’s good for you and easier to digest. Plus, I love the taste of it! When I woke up Saturday I was excited to see my starter all bubbly and decided that it would be a perfect day to try out my sourdough loaf! Noah and Lita were all over helping me get it done. I did follow a basic bread recipe but, want to play around with it a bit more and then I will share the recipe I use for it.
I can honestly say one of my favorite things is to have my family in the kitchen with me by my side. It may be a little more work to have their “help” but, to me its all worth it in the end.
After waiting for the warm bread to come out of the oven and eating it for a snack. It was time for a date with my husband. I have been dying to get out and take pictures but, it seems without fail whenever I get a free chance the weather isn’t good for it. We decided to do some backroad driving and maybe I would get lucky. Well, I got one image from the entire drive! But, the best part of backroad driving is getting uninterrupted time with my husband. You wonder why this post is titled Winter Red Truck? Well here it is!
It wasn’t sunny but, the hoar frost on the tree and the way it framed the truck was perfect for me. I made Kevin stop so I could get out for this picture. It was at the edge of someone farm, and I could hear people playing in the background and just made me wonder what memories this truck had before it was parked here indefinitely.
Well, that about wraps up my thoughts for today. I need to get ready for Noah’s floor hockey game at the school and finish making Shoyu Chicken for supper. Stick around cause this Friday I will be sharing my shoyu chicken recipe and you won’t want to miss it! Super easy and extra taste and reminds me of home. I will always consider Hawaii my home no matter how far I move away, the islands always will hold a special place in my heart.
