What is it?

Gumtree.com Limited, a company incorporated in England with its registered office at 5 New Street Square, EC4A 3TW, London, United Kingdom (“Gumtree”), is running a promotion (the “Promotion”).

Gumtree will select a Registered User of the Gumtree.com website, applications or tools who comply with the present Terms & Conditions, to receive a used [car, + brand and specifics] (“the Prize”) subject to the restrictions mentioned in these Terms & Conditions.

Gumtree will select one winner to receive the prize. In order to be eligible to receive the prize Registered Users must either

• post from their own Twitter account an image or a story
• post on their own Instagram account an image and a story

and include the hashtag #GotItOnGumtreeSTG in all cases.

Registered Users can submit several entries and are not limited to only one entry.

The prize winner will be selected by a panel of judges that includes at least one independent judge, in consideration for their creative merit. The winning entry is judged on:

• quality of imagery
• humorous / emotive or inspirational quality of the story
• assessed impact that Gumtree has made to the user’s story

A combination of the above criteria will result in the selection of the winner.

“Registered Users” are users who sign up for, or who have a standard Gumtree account during the Promotional Period.

Professional accounts are excluded from the Promotion.

Posts on Twitter and Instagram containing the hashtag #GotItOnGumtreeSTG as outlined above using professional tools, such as (but not limited to) API feeds, are excluded. Posts on Twitter and Instagram containing the hashtag #GotItOnGumtreeSTG as outlined above will only be eligible for this promotion if they were posted manually by the users.

To take part in this Promotion, the users must be registered as resident in the UK. Please refer to “What’s Excluded?” for more details.

When is it?

From 09:00 on 17/03/2017 until 18:00 local UK time on 31/03/2017 (the “Promotional Period”).

One winner will be announced on the 31/03/2017.

The winners’ name and county will be made available on

• Twitter
• Instagram

and we will also host the winners’ names and county on our blog. The winner will also feature in a video which will be published on the influencer’s YouTube channel, which we may share on Twitter and Instagram.

The winner will be contacted within five days of the Promotion winner announcement date.

Entrants are responsible for ensuring that they can be contacted via the account they used on the social media used to participate in the Promotion if they win. If Gumtree or its authorised agents are not able to contact the winner by midnight 5 days after the first attempted notification, Gumtree reserves the right to select an alternative winner and the original winner’s entitlement will lapse.

What’s Included?

• Only registered users who have a standard account [i.e. any account that is not a professional account], who are registered on the Gumtree.com website, applications or tools, who reside in the UK, who are aged 18 years or over and who comply with the present Terms & Conditions are eligible.

What’s Excluded?

• Users who have a professional account on the Gumtree.com website, applications or tools are not eligible to participate in this promotion.
• Any posts which do not comply with Gumtree’s Terms of Use do not benefit from the Promotion.
• All Features bought through professional or automated tools, such as (but not limited to) API feeds, are excluded from this promotion.
• All employees (and their families) of Gumtree.com Ltd, any affiliates, subsidiary companies, any representatives or agents of those companies and anyone else who may be professionally involved with the Promotion.

General Terms

Gumtree reserves the rights to:

• suspend, change or cancel the Promotion at any time, in the event of circumstances arising which, in Gumtree’s opinion, make it necessary for it to do so;
• add additional terms and conditions for certain parts of this Promotion;
• exclude users on the basis that Gumtree believes that they do not respect Gumtree’s Terms of Use or that their entries are not of the requisite standard;

• verify the eligibility of entrants.

Any decision of Gumtree regarding any aspect of this Promotion is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

By entering the competition, the entrants irrevocably grants Gumtree permission to use his or her name, biographical and Gumtree related information for advertising, promotional or publicity purposes.

These Terms and Conditions and the Promotion are governed by English law. By entering, entrants agree to be bound by these rules and Gumtree’s Terms of Use.

This Promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Twitter, Instagram or Facebook.

Gumtree shall not be liable, in contract or tort (including negligence) or the breach of statutory duty or in any other way, for the loss or damage howsoever arising suffered by the entrant resulting directly or indirectly from entry to this Promotion. Nothing in these terms shall limit Gumtree’s liability for death, personal injury or fraud.

Gumtree does not accept, and is not responsible for, any lost or delayed entries. Gumtree reminds entrants of the nature and limitations of the Internet and is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunctions of any communications network, online system or computer hardware or software that may effect entry to the Promotion.

Although Gumtree will use reasonable efforts to ensure that all information relating to the Promotion (“Promotional Material”) is accurate, Gumtree is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunctions of any communications network, online system or computer hardware or software failure that may affect Gumtree’s operation of the Promotion or the site, including without limitation the accuracy of any Promotional Material.

Gumtree may use third parties to facilitate one or more elements of the Promotion and Gumtree may provide some of your personally identifiable information to them. These third party service providers are subject to confidentiality agreements with Gumtree and other legal restrictions that prohibit the use of the information we provide them for any other purpose except to facilitate the specific outsourced Gumtree related operation.
