Foreo ISSA Hybrid Toothbrush Review!

Dental care isn’t a particularly glamorous thing to talk about – but neither is hair removal, and us beauty bloggers love to talk about that…so…let’s talk about teeth.

I use an electric Toothbrush normally and it’s ok.  I was excited at the chance to try the Foreo Issa Hybrid toothbrush because – well it can always be a better experience.

I currently use the Foreo face cleansing tool every day and I love it – it’s far gentler than the Clarisonic.  So what is the ISSA toothbrush like?

Foreo ISSA Hybrid Toothbrush Review

The classic ISSA toothbrush is made of soft silicone only (I haven’t tried it, but my toddler has tried the Mikro version) but the Hybrid version has both the silicone and bristles.

A few facts about this brush:

– This is a rechargeable electric toothbrush (unlike a regular one that needs to be charged up every week or so, this one can last up to 365 uses per 1 hour charge.

– This uses Sonic Pulse Technology which channels up to 11; high intensity pulsations per minute.

– There are 8 intensity levels

– The brush is both silicone and PBT polymer bristles.

– Silicone is used because it is hypoallergenic and prevents bacterial build ip because it dries quickly.

– It is fully waterproof so you can even use it in the shower.

– The brush pulses to indicate when to move to another area of the mouth.

I charged this with the USB cable and so far it has last 4 months without needing a recharge. Put it somewhere safe because you don’t have to charge it very often! Also it looks pretty nifty in the bathroom, I have to say.

My first thought when I used it that it felt quite large in my mouth – the head is bigger than regular toothbrushes so it was sort of odd. Usually a small brush works well for getting crevices of the mouth – with this one you have to try and angle it to get the smaller areas. It takes getting used too.

The other thing that takes getting use to is the pressure. This feels very very gentle – I usually scrub at my teeth and gums to get it clean but this feels gentle even when you press own. But then of course I found out that this is one of the USP’s of this brush – it I SUPPOSED to be gentle and not cause any damage to the gums.  That takes getting used to too; I am used to really scrubbing at my teeth and yes, my gums do bleed regularly.

When you press the plus button the vibrating speeds up – I only really use level 1-2 because I am not that adventurous but where I have felt an area needed more deep cleaning, I have just held the brush there and let the vibration do the work. This method seems to work well because afterwards my gum and teeth feel really clean.

Another thing I have noticed is that my teeth look whiter after using this twice daily.

This device cost £149 so it isn’t cheap – but a good toothbrush is like a good bed – a sound investment.  If you have any problems with sensitive gums, or aren’t happy with your current toothbrush, the Foreo is definitely worth a look at. It is now my daily brush!

The brush head needs changing once every 6 months and it costs £17 – which is fine – it works out as just under £3 a month.
