ABC RadioAt a press conference in Nashville on Monday, Dolly Parton announced that she'll be kicking off her first major North American tour in more than 25 years. The trek, which will take place this summer, will cover more than 60 cities in both the U.S and Canada.
Parton also revealed that the tour will coincide with the release of a Double Album titled Pure & Simple with Dolly's Biggest Hits. The collection will include new material, as well as the country legend's best-known tunes. During the tour, Dolly will play songs that she hasn't performed live for decades, as well as some of the new material and, of course, the hits that fans have loved for years.
Details of the tour routing and an album track listing will be released soon. "We're so excited to get out there and see the fans again," says Parton in a statement.
Dolly's most recent triumph was the ratings success of her autobiographical TV movie Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors, which was the most-watched original movie on network TV in over three years. It'll be released on DVD on May 3.
