The Who Kicks Off 2016 North American Tour This Saturday; Band Confirms Opening Acts

Courtesy of The WhoThe Who will finally launch the second North American leg of their 50th anniversary trek, The Who Hits 50!, this Saturday, February 27, in Detroit. The outing originally was scheduled for the fall of 2015, but was postponed so that singer Roger Daltrey could recover from a bout with viral meningitis.

The tour is broken into two series of shows: the first scheduled to wind down with a March 29 performance in Denver, and the second plotted out from an April 26 concert in Toronto through a May 29 gig in Las Vegas. Australian-born bass virtuoso Tal Wilkenfeld, a former member of Jeff Beck's band, will be the support act for the first run of dates, with the exception a March 3 show at New York City's Madison Square Garden that will feature a set by special guests Joan Jett & the Blackhearts. Opening the concerts in April and May will be the young British rock group Slydigs, who also supported The Who during their most recent U.K. trek.
