Evergreen High School is $250,000 closer to an artificial turf field thanks to a grant from King County Parks.
King County Executive Dow Constantine announced the awards January 30, 2018.
“These grants support healthier communities by providing more places and more pathways for kids to play and be active,” said King County Council Chair Joe McDermott. “This is especially important in neighborhoods that have been historically under-resourced, so there is a focus on addressing disparities to access and facilities.”
The King County Youth & Amateur Sports Grants ranged from $6,750 to $250,000.
The $1.4 million multi-use Evergreen Turf Field project is not part of Highline’s 2016 bond and is currently slated for a future bond. District staff and community members are applying for grants and seeking the additional funding to build it sooner if possible. “Thanks, King County Parks, for getting the ball rolling!”
