Falling Awake: A Fugue State is a funny, magical and compelling new work of physical theater. This play takes the audience on a journey through the hilarious, delightful and heartbreaking moments that make memories… and how lives and identities form and fall away, like dust in sunlight.
Written by Maria Glanz, the play was conceived by Christopher Petit and Maria Glanz in collaboration with UMO Ensemble. Elizabeth Klob directs the BAT performances.

The show is suitable for ages 13 and older.
Performances are Friday, June 21 at 8 p.m., Saturday, June 22 at 8 p.m., and Sunday, June 23 at 2 p.m. at Burien Actors Theatre, 14501 4th Ave SW in Burien.

ABOUT THE WRITER AND DIRECTOR
Maria Glanz is an award-winning actor, solo performer, writer, producer and teacher. She received an Artist Trust Fellowship in Theatre in 2002 and the Richard Hugo House Best Play Award the same year. Her solo works See Me Naked and Pu’uhonua (place of refuge) garnered her critical acclaim and numerous local and international honors including Best of Fest in Edmonton and Winnipeg Fringe festivals, two Artistic Pick awards in the Seattle Fringe Festival, Top Ten List at the Montreal Fringe Festival, and more. Maria recently received a Gregory Award nomination for her role as Emily Dickinson in Sound Theatre Company’s production of Belle of Amherst. She wrote the script for UMO’s aerial Rapunzel, and she currently works at Open Space for Arts & Community on Vashon Island.
Elizabeth Klob has been toiling, playing and reinventing herself in the theatrical world for 22 years. She is the current executive artist for the UMO Ensemble; chief, cook, and bottle washer. She primarily directs, designs and manages for theater; Rubble Women marks her first step back on stage in 8 years. Her most notable directorial works include Pu’uhonua and See Me Naked with Maria Glanz and Open Circle Theater, Rapunzel, Fatal Peril and Red Tiger Tales with UMO and an art installation that caused quite a stir on Vashon Island last year called the Eve Project. Elizabeth owns and designs for Cicada Bridal in Seattle and lives on Vashon with her family.
