Volunteers needed to Survey Salmon in Miller and Walker Creeks this fall

Volunteers are needed to help monitor how salmon are doing in our local streams, between October through December, to observe spawning salmon and collect data on dead salmon.

A Community Salmon Investigation for Highline Orientation Workshop will be held on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018, from 6 – 7:30 p.m. at Normandy Park City Hall, Council Chambers, 801 SW 174th Street.

“No experience needed! Volunteers only need rain gear and hip waders.”

Volunteers will:

  • Learn to identify spawning salmon
  • Walk sections of Miller and Walker Creeks in waders
  • Monitor adult salmon abundance and assess pre-spawn mortality

SIGN UP to participate in this year’s salmon surveys and reserve your space in the training – please complete a short survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/5B3YQGG or contact Matt Goehring, Miller-Walker Basin Steward; (206) 263-6826, [email protected]
