Due to a power outage Tuesday morning (Jan. 2), students at Highline High School were sent home early from school.
“This morning we were operating with partial power and space heaters,” the district said in a statement. “Some classes were able to move to the cafeteria and gym where the heat was on. Space heaters were provided to critical areas.”
Seattle City Light originally expected to restore power at 10 a.m., but after further investigating they determined it would take longer and a full power shut off was required.
Electricity is expected to be restored for Wednesday’s School day.
“Because power is out, calls to the school office will not go through,” the district added. “In the event of an emergency and you need to reach the campus, please contact our campus security officer at 206-552-4318.”
