A few basic tips on how to survive the Switch to eating sustainably.

A. Have Basic Cooking Skills Under Your Belt
When making the switch to Sustainable eating, try and learn five basic meals to cook for yourself, or your family. If you do not know how to cook these simple meals count yourself lucky that you live in a culture that has YouTube! By learning five basic meals you can perfect, you will easily be able to make sure they are sustainable by adding or subtracting different components.

B. Buy Your Food Locally
Yes, previous posts have made it very clear that not all local Food is sustainable, but it is so easy to find sustainable foods when you know where it comes from and when you can talk to the farmers themselves. Try out your nearest farmers market to find the most local food available to you.

C. Eat Your Food When It Is The Freshest
Just like the subtitle says, try and pick your produce when it is in season. By doing so you are making sure you are not picking produce that is being chemically enhanced to grow in an off-season. You can click here to see when specific produce is in season. 

D. Grow Your Own Garden

E. Give Up The Expectation That It Will Be Convenient
Let’s face it; it is not always going to be easy, fast, or enjoyable. But, it will be worth it. Get rid of the expectation that it will come easy to eat sustainably at any given moment. Understand that it might be difficult at times.
