It’s important to understand when you’re working with a staffing firm, that you’re not just working with the one person that you’re communicating with, you’re actually working with a team of people. The more you can communicate the better that person can direct the team of recruiters and find you the type of candidate that you’re looking for.
I always encourage people to have at least one phone conversation or an in-person meeting to talk about the position to get the job search started because that will give us a lot more detail and understanding of exactly what type of skillset that you’re looking for, what fits best in your department, culture, personality and then we’ll be better equipped to find you the right person.
The best thing you can do is be honest with us about your timeline, about when you’re looking to make the hire, how soon you can interview, how soon you can review resumes and when you want someone to get started. The second best thing you can do is when you see a resume you like, get back to us as quickly as you can. There’s not a lot of candidates and there’s a lot of jobs so pretty much any resume you see, that person has multiple interviews and potentially multiple offers – the sooner you can tell us the better. If you wait days or weeks most likely that person will no longer be available.
The biggest mistake you can make when you’re working with a staffing firm is not keeping them updated on where you’re at with the job search. The more updates you can provide throughout the process the better it is for you. We take the time to get to know you and your personality, what’s the best fit for your department and what’s the best fit for your company.
