We all want to think that we know how best to protect ourselves from being injured in an auto Accident, and if you’re a biker, then you know that you believe you can take care of yourself on the Road to prevent a Motorcycle injury. But the fact of the matter is that your own thoughts about safety could actually be increasing your risk. Here are some of the best things you can think about when you’re out on the road and that you have probably put out of your mind in the past.
- Never give other motorists too much credit. One of the biggest causes of accidents involving motorcycle riders is that other drivers “don’t see them”. Never make the mistake of believing that other drivers are paying attention long enough to notice you on the road alongside them.
- Don’t overestimate your own skills. Just because you have done some great things on a driving course to learn how to ride a motorcycle doesn’t mean that you will be able to repeat those actions in a real life accident. Nothing replaces real life riding experience.
- Don’t neglect to follow the law. It’s easy to say that you didn’t know how fast you were going when you get pulled over by a police officer. But if you’re involved in a serious collision while riding at more than 100 miles per hour, you might not get the chance to make up an excuse.
When you’re Riding in traffic, there’s always a chance that something could go wrong and that you could be involved in a crash. Since most motorists are so distracted these days, it is even more important for Motorcycle Riders to think of their own safety.
