Kashmir Adminstrative Services exam is the topmost exam conducted by Jammu and Kashmir Public services commission. KAS is conducted for recruitment to various gazzetted services in the UT of jammu and Kashmir. The services include Adminstrative services, police services and accounts services.

For the uninitiated, KAS exam is a three level exam. The first stage is a prelimnary stage, comprising of two papers, viz General studies Paper and CSAT paper.

In prelims exam, only the marks obtained in GS paper are counted and the CSAT paper is only of qualifying nature.

The second stage is of mains. It has 4 GS papers, 2 subject papers and one essay paper.

The subjects available for mains exam are sociology, physics, anthropology, physics, chemistry etc.
