With technology taking leaps and bounds, it almost seems like the future is at our doorstep. The next big thing is always round the corner. The next innovation, the next advancement, the next piece of tech. But in a day and age when jobs are few and far between, how can we make technology work for us?
There’s a few ways that we can stay in the loop when it comes to finding new work, better work and, hopefully, better paying work.
With the creation of Cloud Storage, we are now able to access our files and documents from anywhere in the world. It’s a service that allows you to store various forms of data, such as ones CV, to a secure online location. It’s the digital version of a filing cabinet, but you can access it from anywhere.
When it comes to this sort of thing, there are two cloud based storage services that work the best:
Google Drive comes complete with a few other services, such as Google Maps and Google+ when you create a Gmail account. It offers 15Gb of free storage, and if you’re looking for more, you can pay per month. But more often than not, 15Gbs will have you sorted for quite a while.
Once you’ve set up a Gmail account, and logged in, you can access your Google Drive by clicking on your Google apps icon at the top right hand corner (we’ve highlighted it in red). Once you’ve found that, you can select the ‘Drive’ icon and it’ll take you straight to your Google Drive.
When you’re in your Drive, it’s a simple hop, skip and a jump to uploading your CV and loads of other files and documents.
All you have to do is drag the file you want to upload, onto your Drive. You’ll see this image appear:
And it does the rest for you.
The files will upload themselves to your Drive and even give you an estimated time frame.
Once it finishes, you’ll be able to access all the documents you uploaded, from any phone, tablet, laptop and desktop computer.
As long as you can log into your Gmail account, you’ll have access to your files.
One of the best known cloud storage and sharing providers, Dropbox makes it easy as pie to upload any document. You can make use of the website, but there are apps for PC and mobile too. With the site, they offer 2Gbs of free space, and when you install the app you get an unlimited amount of storage space.
The apps seamlessly sync your files across your devices, so you can access them on any device, from anywhere at any time.
You have to create an account, if you want to start uploading your documents to the site. Once you’ve signed in, all you have to do is simply drag the files you want onto the site and they’ll automatically upload.
Everything these days has gone digital. It has made things easier to use and access. If you’re waiting at the airport and you find a job that you’re perfect for, you can send through your application while you wait. Easy as that. As long as you’ve got the right documents stored on the cloud.
