The advice of Tiregom:

  • Do not take the highway if your car is damaged or faulty.
  • Check your fuel level: In the event of an unexpected plug or prolonged stop, you may break down.
  • Take a break (at least) every two hours. Driving on the highway is tiring, as monotonous. A fall of form at 130km / h may be fatal … Think resting sufficiently before and during the journey, to avoid fatigue while rolling.
  • Be very careful when you insert on the highway, you do not have priority!
  • Be constantly on the lookout for your environment (regular glance in the retro).

  • Courtesy is always welcome, do not force the passage in the corks and do not zigzag a track on track.
  • Do not overlook safety distances. Leave at least one space equivalent to two cars, except in case of slowdown.
  • Reduce your speed in the event of rain, snow or ice, even if speed limits allow you to go faster.
  • Take advantage of the rest areas to check the condition of your car and to refuel.
  • When you leave the highway, do not lower your speed before your vehicle complements the exit. Braking too early can cause plugs for the following users.
  • If you are taking medications, check that they do not cause drowsiness and if you are allowed to drive your car. Ask your doctor for advice.

When Driving on the highway, your tires have special needs. To begin with, a tire with poor pressure is a hazard , on all types of roads. Why ? Because an under-inflated tire tends to heat up and can even burst. It is possible to avoid this by respecting the ideal pressure of your vehicle. This is indicated on the label affixed to the front door, the fuel door, or in the vehicle’s operating manual. You should also check the pressure once a month . When driving on the highway, it is better to lightly inflate your tires . To do this, refer to the specific instructions for your car. Sometimes the word “highway pressure” is mentioned. If it’s not the case, Add 0.3 bar in addition to normal pressure . Of course, an additional load in the vehicle (luggage, races …) and the number of passengers must also be taken into account.

If you drive regularly on the highway, you can buy tires with excellent durability, long service life, excellent wet grip and low fuel consumption.
