Suspected arsonists have razed a Police station under construction at Mkpuunando in Anambra East Local Government Area.
The traditional ruler of Mkpunando, Igwe Alex Edozieuno, disclosed this to journalists in Awka, the Anambra State capital on Saturday.
Edozieuno said he had written to the state Governor, Willie Obiano, and the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, on the development.
In a petition dated December 8, 2016, Igwe Edozieuno, said since the said traditional ruler came into office a few months ago, his ambition had been to dominate the area as a fiefdom.
Edozieuno said the armed thugs, numbering 15, attacked the Police Station and burnt it down on December 7, adding that there was nothing his people could do.
When contacted on the telephone, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Nkeiru Nwode, confirmed the incident.
She said the police had begun a manhunt for the culprits with a view to bringing them to book.
“Nobody would commit such heinous crime and get away with it, no matter how highly placed,” she stated. Punch
