New Bragg Press Box Expected To Arrive Week Of July 18th

Exactly what the new Press Box at Bragg Memorial Stadium will look like has been a closely guarded secret.  The FAMU Division of Facilities Planning, which has been managing the $12 million Bragg Stadium reconstruction project for the university, has been mum on the details and specifics.

In February, we were able to obtain a preliminary designs/layout of the upper floor (suite level) of the new box, but an actual rendering has been hard to come by.

Here’s what we do know about the new Press box:

  • It is being constructed off site by Southern Bleacher Company, at their Lancaster, PA, facility.
  • Once complete, the modular unit will be shipped by truck to Tallahassee and attached to Bragg (see video on how this process might look).
  • Because of cost overruns, FAMU added $2 million to the $10 million it received from Tallahassee/Leon County Blueprint Intergovernmental Agency to replace the old 68-year Bragg Stadium press box.
  • FAMU made a very conscious to improve the AD and Presidents' suites to provide them with suitable spaces to do additional fundraising for other stadiumupgrades and improvements, such as a permanent scoreboard, and restroom upgrades.
  • New press box should arrive the week of July 18th, it was previously scheduled to be delivered on August 8th.
  • There will be no suites available to the general public for rental, however, there will be two "party decks (one on each side of the press box) which could be rented.  These decks could at some point in the future be built out to be four suites.
