“I am pleased to announce after consideration of all information that Reginald Mitchell, Sr. has been recommended as the new Director of Academic Support and Bar Preparation effective July 1, 2017,” Pernell said in a public statement.
The Office of Academic Success and Bar Preparation runs the Bar Exam Success Training (BEST) program. BEST is a 12-week, intensive training program that is available to free-of-charge to FAMU Law students and alumni.
His legal experience includes past service as assistant general counsel for risk of the Florida Department of Children and Families, a Medicaid Subrogation Attorney with Health Management Systems, Florida Legal Counsel of People for the American Way, and an associate attorney at Parks and Crump, LLC.
Mitchell has also held a number of administrative positions at FAMU. He previously worked as assistant to the provost and vice president for academic affairs, assistant dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and an executive assistant to then-President Frederick S. Humphries. During the Humphries presidency, Mitchell represented the university on the Site Selection Committee that recommended Orlando as the location for the restored FAMU College of Law.
