The new 5008 breaks with the aesthetics of minivan, but not with its versatility
The new Peugeot 5008 can be seen in these first images before its debut at the Paris Motor Show. The Peugeot 5008 2017 marks a break with the current model, an MPV derivative Citroen C4 Picasso , and commitment SUV appearance.
Peugeot says the new model is a mix between the versatility of a minivan with some off-road capability.It will be exclusively available in 7 – seater configuration.
An SUV-minded MPV
The new 5008 measures 4.64 m long. With a wheelbase of 2.84 m, it is 11 cm long and 11 wider than the current model cm. It is also 19 longer than the new Peugeot 3008 cm, all in order to provide sufficient habitability for 7 passengers.
If Peugeot speaks of a mix between MPV and SUV it is on the inside modularity. Thus, the second row of seats, offering 6 cm more space to the knees over the current model consists of three identical individual seats. The third row of seats is also formed by individual seats . They are all concealable and, in the case of the third row seats are removable to release even cargo space if necessary.
Cargo volume is another trump cards with which you want to have the new Peugeot SUV. Settings 5 – seater, the 5008 offers a luggage compartment with a capacity 780 liters (VDA standard). Folding down the back of the front passenger seat, the plane by the 5008 offers a length of 3.2 meters.
A Peugeot 3008 and has grown with 7 seats
Aesthetically, the new Peugeot SUV breaks no molds, as the B – pillar towards the front the 5008 is a clone of the new 3008 , a model that also happens to be a “traditional” SUV. Only the rear and rear doors offer a different design.
The similarities between the two models are even more evident on board. Not only share i-Cockpit and 12.3-inch screens (dashboard) and 8 inches (Infotainment), also share design and materials. Come on, both models feature exactly the same dashboard.
The diesel range starts with the 1.6 BlueHDI 100 CV associated with a manual 6-speed gearbox, still with the same 1.6-liter version of 120 hp with manual or automatic, to pick and both 6-speed, and ends with the 2.0-liter HDI, 150 hp version (6-speed manual transmission) and 180 hp version with 6-speed automatic transmission.
Complete equipment of driving aids
Peugeot announced for 5008 equipment including in the top versions of range, a pneumatic massage with 8 compartments in the front seats, Focal caraudio system, panoramic sunroof and permanent connectivity with Mirror Screen function and 3D connected navigation (with Tom Tom Traffic).
In terms of driving aids, the 5008 can be equipped as standard or optional depending on the market, the Advanced Grip Control (traction control that adapts its operation to weather and terrain conditions that will have previously selected) with control decrease Hill Assist descent Control, automatic emergency brake warning risk of collision, active alert involuntary change lanes, recognition speed limits, controller adaptive speed with Stop (automatic transmission), active surveillance system angle dead, Park Assist and Visio Park (360º). That is, all the technological arsenal to try to ensure the 5 stars in EuroNCAP tests.
With integrated mobility solution
Finally, the 5008 can equip a folding electric scooter, e-Kick, or e-Bike EF01 (folding bike with electric assistance) . Both two wheels will be integrated into the boot and will have their recharging stations removable. It is proposed by Peugeot for access to areas in which solution may not drive or move so complicated, as in the “superillas” of Barcelona .
With this proposal equipment, Peugeot joins the movement of other manufacturers, such as Ford, who see beyond their future cars , but never stopped making Peugeot bicycles and scooters.
The new 5008 will be available in four finishes, Active, Allure, GT Line and GT cap range. Made in France, marketing is scheduled for spring 2017 .
