The highly-protected K-4386 Typhoon-VDV is further development of К-53949 armored car, already known to Russian customers. According to Igor Zarakhovich, RD’s head designer, key distinctions from the framed predecessor are monocoque hull, air-dropping capability, compactness while heavy payload capacity, and powerful weapons (combat module with 30-mm gun, as required by airborne troops).
