It seems that the 2017 Chrysler 100 has the automotive rumor mill in full gear regardless of the official information that is being released. According to reports stemming from the Fiat Chrysler family, the new Chrysler 100 sedan will not find itself sharing the same platform of the Dodge Dart (PF). The vehicle is said to be sharing the platform of the Fiat 500X crossover as well as the Jeep Renegade. Should this bit of platform “intel” be true, experts within the industry are wondering what happened to the May 2014 compact promise of Al Gardner at the FCA Investor Day presentation? This is where Gardner proclaimed that the platform of the Dart is that of the Compact US Wide while the Fiat 500X and the Jeep Renegade have been underpinned via the company’s Small US Wide 4X4 architecture. This is the same architecture that is related to the General Motors Small Platform (SCCS), the metal skeleton that found itself debuted approximately a decade ago. The change of heart, so to speak, will afford the sedan the ability to deliver consumers with enhanced levels of fuel economy and handling characteristics.
2017 Chrysler 100: Engine Specs
There is very little information available in regards to the vehicle’s power train, but what is known is that the power will have the option of a four cylinder Hurricane 2.0 liter power unit. The maximum output of the engine has yet to be released via the automotive giant. It is speculated that the unit will find itself mated with an automatic nine speed gearbox as well as the ability to deliver consumers with an enhance fuel economy rating.
2017 Chrysler 100: Unique Feature
There is talk that the skeleton of the Chrysler 200 will be used for the construction of the 2017 Chrysler 100. This will make the two vehicles quite difficult to differentiate between the two vehicle models. The wheelbase, which was originally debuted on the test bed for the new offering of the Chrysler 100 in 2013, does not differ from the standard compact platform of Alfa Romeo Giulietta. Aside from that, the new 100 will present to the automotive market as an all-new compact sedan that will fill the automaker’s slot that is just below that of the 200 sedan in regards to its entry level sedan lineup.
The American Automotive Giant has yet to release any specified information regarding the overall design of the vehicle. Even with the lack of confirmed information, experts within the industry proclaim that the 2017 Chrysler 100 will feature styling that has been expressly influenced by its stablemate the 200, which is quite sleek in its own right.
2017 Chrysler 100: Release Date and Price
Per initial reports, the 2017 Chrysler 100 sedan will make its way into dealership showrooms around the second quarter of next year. It appears that not only will the skeleton be the same as the 200, but reports indicate that the pricing will be virtually identical as well. At this time there is no further information available regarding the forthcoming sedan. As we enter into the New Year, it is certain that the American automotive giant will begin to release more detailed information regarding it. Consumers should note that with the amount of similarities between this vehicle and the 200 sedan, it may be more cost effective to opt for the slightly larger option.
