How To Take Great Winter Photos To Wow Buyers

Tags: house photo snow

Photos are always important in your listings. But during the winter, when home selling usually slows down, taking great photos is even more important to catching the interest of potential buyers. Taking great winter photos can mean the difference between making the sale and having that House sit on the market until spring. Here are some expert photography tips to make your winter listing photos better: Light It Up If you are taking photos on an overcast day make sure that all the lights in the house are on when you are taking the photos. Include holiday lights and decorations when you’re taking photos of the front of the house. When the house is light and bright and decorated for the holidays it will look a lot more appealing to buyers. Interior photos need great lighting also. You might want to bring a photographer’s light with you when go to take photos to make sure that your photographs are bright enough to make the house look great. Watch Out For Footprints A photograph of a great looking house with fresh snow all around it looks beautiful. But seeing a lot of footprints and muddy tracks in the snow makes the house look dingy and unappealing. Make sure that you take photos of the front of the house before you walk up to the entry way so that the snow will be undisturbed. Clear the Snow from Paths Make sure that the driveway and walkway to the front door are shoveled or use a snow blower to make a neat path. That way the house will look accessible and inviting to potential buyers and it will be a lot easier for buyers to get in and out when you’re showing the house. Decorate the Front of the House Snow makes a great backdrop for a house. Make sure that the front door has been washed and looks nice. Give it a new coat of paint if necessary. Or, decorate it for the holidays by wrapping the front door in holiday paper and putting a wreath or a large bow on it. Add planters on either side of the door filled with bright colored holiday foliage or place small battery operated Christmas trees in the planters. Use holiday decorations to make the house look festive and friendly. Make the Rooms Look Cozy Add heavy curtains, cozy throw blankets and other warm touches to the décor inside the house when you are taking photos. Those little touches will make the house look cozy and give buyers a sense of how it will feel to live in the home. A Christmas tree that is decorated and lit inside the house is a nice touch if it’s close to Christmas.
