My neighbor told me about your company. I have a very bad rotten egg odor in our well water. I don't know why but it developed over the last year, we never had it before. Our neighbors have a similar problem, not as bad but they use chlorine.
My wife does not want chlorine, and I read on your site about peroxide. Would that work for me? I think we have iron or sulfur bacteria, as we have a lot of gray slimy growth in our toilet tanks. We also tested positive for coliform but i shocked the well and not its clean, but will peroxide also kill coliform if it comes back? thanks
Yes you can definitely use hydrogen peroxide injection to eliminate this problem once and for all. Unlike chlorine bleach (sodium hypochlorite) which adds sodium to the water, peroxide breaks down into oxygen and water and leaves the water fresher and better tasting.
The combination of peroxide and catalytic carbon works particularly well. Unfortunately peroxide is not recognized as a suitable or effective disinfectant for water though. See this link for more information on that. However, ultraviolet sterilizer can be used, after the softener to kill bacteria.
Here is how the system would be set up:
In this application a Metering Pump would be wired to come on with the well, and then whenever energized a dilution of peroxide would be injected to oxidize and destroy the sulfur odors. An Inline Mixer allows for complete injection to occur with filtration by a Catalytic Carbon filter. This Carbon system will remove the residual peroxide, dissolved oxygen, along with other tastes and odors from the treated water as well.
Once this process is complete a Heavy-Duty Water Softener removes the high water hardness levels so as to stop scale build up as well as allowing for less soap usage, protecting fixtures and plumbing, not to mention clothing lasts longer when washed in softened water.
Sanitization of the water at the end would be by a UV Sterilizer.
The Precision-24 self-priming metering pump systems are easy to install by anyone familiar with basic plumbing and very easy to maintain yourself. Settings for the pump will be provided as well as the ratio of Peroxide : Water to be used.
There are many benefits of using Peroxide to treat water. Maintenance costs are similar to Chlorination. Peroxide does cost a bit more typically however the benefit is not using chlorine whatsoever.
