Two people suffered life-threatening injuries when their Motorcycle collided with a semi-truck in Richland County, Illinois. Illinois State Police said the motorcycle driver and passenger were airlifted to a hospital for treatment.

The crash between the motorcycle and semi-truck occurred close to the intersection of U.S. Route 50 and County Road 300 E. The motorcycle driver was identified as 31-year-old Caleb Cochran. Cochran and his motorcycle passenger, 41-year-old Jaime Wilkin, were traveling eastbound behind a semi-truck on the highway.

The semi driver, 35-year-old Christopher McCarty, began decelerating after signaling a right turn. He then shifted into the westbound lane to make a right turn onto County Road 300 E. The motorcycle allegedly tried to pass McCarty on the right side, hitting the passenger side of the semi. Police cited Cochran for improper passing, improper use of registration, driving with an expired registration and operating a vehicle without insurance.
